My Inspiration For Stayglutenfree.com

My inspiration for this blog came from my desire to bring some of these missed foods back into my life. I have missed the taste of really good food since I became gluten free.

Becoming gluten free was not really a choice, but a necessity. Gluten had very unpleasant effects on my life, but to me, the taste of gluten free food was very undesirable.

I never imagined that as an adult I would develop a sensitivity to gluten, and in addition, both my kids would have food allergies/sensitivities to gluten and more. Needless to say, this was one of the hardest things to overcome as a new mom.

Becoming Gluten Free: My InspirationIt wasn’t until I began to embrace my circumstances, things began to change. I decide that instead of wishing we could eat what we craved, I would figure out a way to make it myself.  At first it was very hard, I spent a lot of time learning about gluten free ingredients. I also had to learn where and how to buy them.

Just when I finally started to get a handle on things, my oldest son started school and making him feel “just like the other kids was the most important thing to me. Here he is pictured, I call him the “head chef”.

During the school year, my network of mom friends grew. I found that food allergies/sensitivities among kids was becoming much more common. In fact, those of us in this category had the same desire. We all wanted to help our kids feel included.

The result from talking with my mom friends is what really inspired me to write and share my story and expertise. Often our long talks consisted of being asked many questions about where to start and how to stick with it.

After many years of cooking and eating gluten free, I am convinced that gluten free food doesn’t have to taste so bad.

Believe me, I know first hand that food allergies can be challenging. I am thankful that I am finally finding joy in the kitchen again. My goal is to make food for my family fun, easy and delicious.

I hope that I can help you like I have helped so many others. Staying gluten free doesn’t have to be impossible anymore.
