Gluten Free Powdered Donuts

I can’t wait to have my boys wake up to presents and gluten free powdered donuts this Christmas morning. The excitement on my oldest son’s face will be just enough to make my Christmas complete.

Recently I wrote about how I make gluten free donut holes in my go daddy fryer. I love that method, but reasonably it’s not always easy to fry up some donuts. And actually there are many ways to make great gluten free donuts.

When I created these gluten free donuts my son was ecstatic. With this one recipe we have had powdered, glazed and cinnamon sugar gluten free donuts and we love them all.

I would recommend using 2- 6 mold pans because letting the donuts cool completely before you remove them from the pan is very important.

If you do plan to reuse your pans, try to let the donuts cool as much as possible without letting your batter sit out too long. In addition, once you remove the donuts, clean the pan before adding more batter. There is a thin layer of donut left behind in the pan that will ruin your next batch if it isn’t cleaned out.

Using an disposable icing bag, or a zip lock bag to dispense the batter really helped my donuts have a great smooth shape. When I started making donuts, I would just scoop the batter into the molds with a spoon. My donuts did not look very neat. They looked like each one had little horns sticking out of them. Using an icing bag makes a nice smooth donut every time.

And here is another little “mommy saving tip”. I actually cheated a little this year and baked them ahead of time. They are currently in my freezer. On Christmas morning I will remove them from my freezer while my little ones open their gifts and powder them just before we are ready to eat them.

This allows me to surprise my family and enjoy the magic of Christmas without missing a minute and slaving in the kitchen. Try it, you won’t be disappointed.

I hope you love these donuts as much as we do.

Do you have something special you are making Christmas morning?
